Listed in David Scott’s 1760 probate inventory, “a Negro girl named Ann” was valued at £37, by far the most valuable “item” in the inventory. No other enslaved individuals were listed at this time, although records show Scott had previously enslaved individuals named Quash, Dinah, Peter, and Lidia.
