Brought to Guilford from Guadeloupe by his enslaver, Nicolas Loyselle, Jouachim would be indentured to George Hallam of New London as part of a property contract between Loyselle and Thomas Pynchon of Guilford. The records do not shine much light on his life story, but it is clear that he was enslaved alongside another man, Joissin. He farmed and also may have worked at a shipyard in New London. Joachim was emancipated at age 45 by Nicolas Loyselle.
