Hagar Jeffery

Stone Number: CT 161

On November 16, 1808, the Connecticut Gazette ran a runaway notice seeking the return of a woman named Hagar Jeffrey. The notice, posted by Richard Waite Jr., described her as a “mulatto woman servant” who was about 34 years old.  She “carried away with her many articles of clothing,” and Waite was offering a small reward of six cents to “whoever will return said servant to me.” No other records for Hagar Jeffrey have been found.
