Suberiah

Stone Number: CT 188

Suberiah, enslaved by Daniel Ely (1693 -1776) on today’s Bill Hill Road, appears only once in the historical record. Ely’s estate inventory lists the appraised value of the “old Negro Wench Suberiah” at three pounds. Nothing else is known about Suberiah’s life in Lyme, but she likely provided domestic labor for many years in Ely’s household.
