The only known record of a woman named Dinah and a boy named Peter appears in a 1740 property. In the record, David Scott writes that he does “fully and freely bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Vivus Dauchy, his executors and administrators, a certain Negro woman, named Dinah, and a Negro boy named Peter, to be servants or slaves during the term of their natural lives, together with all their wearing apparel.” The sale of these individuals were listed as property along with a house, a lot, and other items. It is not clear what the relationship was, if any, between Dinah and Peter, though it is possible that they were mother and son.
