Peter

Stone Number: CT 174

The only known record of a boy named Peter and a woman named Dinah appears in a property sale from 1740. In the record, David Scott writes that he does “fully and freely bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Vivus Dauchy, his executors and administrators, a certain Negro woman, named Dinah, and a Negro boy named Peter, to be servants or slaves during the term of their natural lives, together with all their wearing apparel.” The sale of these individuals were listed as property along with a house, lot, and other items. It is not clear what the relationship was, if any, between Dinah and Peter, though it is possible that they were mother and son.
