In addition to a woman whose name is no longer known, Jonathan Hoyt enslaved an individual named Caesar on this site. Baptized in 1741, Caesar was treated by Dr. Thomas Williams from 1751-1759. Caesar also served in the French Indian War and purchased items at Elijah Williams’s store in the village center.
