Among the early records for Deerfield’s First Church is one documenting the 1695 death of “Tigo, Robbert, negro servant to Jno Williams,” Deerfield’s minister. Rev. Williams, the church’s first minister, would also enslave Parthena, Frank, Kedar, and Mesheck.
