Titus

Stone Number: MA 19

Enslaved in Hatfield by Samuel Smith, Titus was sold to Daniel Arms of Deerfield in 1762. That same year, Titus was baptized, according to Deerfield’s First Church records. In his account book, Arms also recorded the occasions when he hired out Titus to work for other residents. Eventually, Arms sold Titus to Jonathan Taylor of Charlemont for twenty shillings. At the time of the  1771 sale, Titus was described as being 31 years old.
